Some Covid Carols

Stuck at home, frustrated by the lack of social gatherings? Maybe By Next Christmas things will have changed and you can finally go to a party (though that might be a reversal of your previous stance).

Last Christmas, I would never have made this post, but for reasons that remain unclear to me, cheesy, sometimes clumsily-altered music about pandemic depression is the order of the day.

So make sure to stay 6 feet apart, and if you are living somewhere colder, you should probably not fight it and just Let it snow, because you are stuck here on Earth, and snow is sometimes a part of that world.
Whether you prefer your music to be cheerier, or you're feeling a bit more bitter, be sure to spread the joy (but nothing else) as you prepare for a crappy covid Christmas.

Every year I get to a point where anything Christmas-related makes me cry, and I've already had one bout while listening to a carol concert on the radio where everyone was humming along to Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, because they couldn't sing (at least it was a live concert). So I only made it as far as half-way through the first song without reaching for the tissues.

Maybe I'll try again later.

thanks to Greg_Ace's link above i stumbled, via twitter, onto a mefi user who is a dear friend of mine, lost lo these 15 years. maybe will expand somewhat when an appropriate meta appears.

also: a couple of those songs were beautiful, though not, strictly, what i would usually call my style.

I continue to be amused that "Covid music" has become a (hopefully temporary) genre on YouTube, etc. and now of course it's got its own carols to boot.
